Travel guide and our visit to the Stuttgarter Weihnachtsmarkt, Christmas Market in Stuttgart in Germany, with tips and an updated 2024 schedule.
There are several Christmas Markets in Stuttgart, but the main ones will take place from November 27th until December 23rd 2024.
The good weather helped us visit the Stuttgart Christmas Market. And when I say good weather, I mean that the day was wonderfully beautiful, with sunshine and a pleasant temperature of around 12ºC. The only thing better than this is in the summer. So we went to enjoy the best that this German Christmas market has to offer.
More up-to-date information about the Stuttgart Christmas Markets can be found on the official website.
We have published a calendar of the German Christmas Markets in 2024, be sure to check it out.
Our visit to the Stuttgart Christmas Market in Germany
Big city, big people’s Christmas market. Stuttgart’s market is quite large and covers the area from the neues Schloss, the new castle, to the end of the block where the city hall is located.
And because it is quite large, the Christmas Market is sort of divided into sectors. In each sector, there is an area with stalls selling sweets to satisfy the Genoveva’s sweet tooth and avoid having to move around in the crowd of visitors.
The Neues Schloss area is home to a large number of toys for children, such as carousels, little trains, mini Ferris wheels, etc. I think we spent most of our time here with the little one, until we managed to convince her that she was hungry.
Also in this area was an area for craft stalls such as candles, decorations, local products such as wines, jams and sausages.
Crossing the street and entering through the portico, the fair began, which looked more like a Christmas Market, with several dark wooden stalls lined up, super mega decorated with all kinds of unimaginable products. There were stalls for all kinds of desires, tastes and budgets.
This part of the fair is concentrated in the area of the Altes Schloss, the old castle that now houses a museum, and the Stiftskirche church . If it weren’t so crowded, it would make for beautiful photos. It’s kind of hard to take a photo without a nosy head here or a bald spot there. It’s worth spending some time in the square admiring the whole while the Genoveva is stocked with a candy apple or a lebkuchen.
In the town hall area, which was decorated with Adventskalender, there was the largest concentration of food stalls and, surprisingly, it was an area that was not so crowded. We stopped there for the daily Glühwein + Pommes + Wurst combo before returning to our walk.
We didn’t see the whole fair lit up, because our train back home was late in the afternoon, but we still managed to see and enjoy the Stuttgart Christmas Market. And if you go, be prepared, because it’s super crowded. However, it’s full of Christmas spirit 😛
