I think that 80% of people who visit Lake Blausee in Switzerland are those who, like me, accidentally found a photo on Pinterest or Instagram and were eager to visit the place. And after visiting in person, I can say, believe me, it is everything that the photos show.
Where is and how to get to Lake Blausee
I was working in Bern, Switzerland and luckily for me, Blausee is approximately 50 minutes away by car and, of course, I took advantage of a free day between the rush at the client and went to visit him. And for those in Interlaken, the distance is practically the same.

And if you don’t have a car, you can go by public transport. The train takes you to the city of Frutigen, from there just take bus 230, direction Kandersteg, and get off at the Blausee BE stop. This bus stop is in front of the park (in fact there is a pizzeria in front of it and behind the pizzeria is Blausee).
Our visit to Lake Blausee in Switzerland
I arrived at the park very early, at 9:00, I bought my ticket from the automatic machine, the cost was 8 Swiss francs, but it’s worth searching on the official website , as in some periods the price changes. The entrance to the park is next to the shop and there I came across a trail inside a dense forest.
I went in autumn and the colors were fantastic, the yellowish green on the trail gave the place a special touch. I already started the tour with my mouth open!
But it was when I came face to face with the lake that the smile went from ear to ear. As it was very early, the lake was all mine, the turquoise blue contrasting with the autumnal trees was everything I wanted, even on a cloudy day.
I walked calmly around the lake taking several photos. This is the lake tour, walking, admiring the beauty of the turquoise water, taking photos and whoever goes later has lunch at the restaurant.
The water is so blue and clear that you could see the trout swimming from one side to the other, also the branches and stones at the bottom of it.
Oh! Fun fact, they breed alpacas there… Don’t ask me why, but this was the third place in Switzerland that I saw alpaca breeding.
History of Lake Blausee’s Submerged Statue
Leaving the alpacas I reached the point where you can see a statue of a girl at the bottom of the water. According to the story, she always went to the lake region with her boyfriend and after he died, she constantly returned to mourn the loss. They say that the water in Lake Blausee is due to the tears coming from her blue eyes.
From there I reached the point where I started my return and, as the first of the always crowded tours had already arrived, it was time to say goodbye and hit the road.
