Guinness Storehouse in Dublin Ireland - Tips and travel guide

Guinness Storehouse, the Guinness factory in Dublin, Ireland, including how to get there, buy tickets and tips for the tour.

When we took our first trip to Europe, we included the main cities normally visited in our itinerary, such as London, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam. But one city in particular I didn’t want to remove from the list: Dublin! And there was only one reason: I had to visit the Guinness Storehouse, the Guinness Factory.

Not that Dublin doesn’t have other attractions. Quite the opposite! The city is beautiful, the people are very friendly and you can find some options to visit in the capital of Ireland.

We have also a travel guide with What to do in Galway, Ireland.

Where is the Guinness Factory in Dublin

The Guinness Factory is a 20-minute walk from Dublin Castle, central region. The walk is quiet and allows you to get to know a little of the city’s architecture and its exposed brick houses.

How is the tour in the Guinness Storehouse

Already starting the visit, the first tip is buy your ticket in advance, this way you can avoid queuing when you arrive at the Guinness Storehouse and there is even a discount when buying online.

Although the building dates back to 1904, the museum and facilities are modern and very large. The tour is self-guided, with the aid of a map also available on the official website. There are 7 floors, ranging from the manufacturing process, old machines, transportation, marketing materials and their distribution across different countries.

Right at the entrance we are presented with several bottles used for the drink and we can already have a view of the store where we will spend our rich money on the way out.

We can learn about and interact with beer ingredients: barley (barley), yeast (yeast), hops (hops) and water (water).  Guinness also considers as a special ingredient: its first master brewer, Arthur Guinness!

There are several installations telling the history of beer and showing how it is produced and distributed.

And we can also find out where Guinness can be found around the world and also its influence and actions in several countries, including Brazil.

A cool part of the Tour is when we learn how to properly pour and taste the beer. In addition to the instructions we received, we were also able to taste this fabulous black liquid for the first time.

Having a beer at the Gravity Bar at the Guinness Storehouse

We end the tour at Gravity Bar, on the top floor. It is an environment with 360° windows, where we can help ourselves to the most perfect Pint of Guinness and enjoy the view of Dublin. Fantastic!

It was really worth fighting to keep this visit on the itinerary and I will definitely repeat it. Also be sure to go to Jameson Whiskey Factory, the visit is very nice .
