What to do in the Keukenhof gardens in Netherlands, Holland? Every year, the Keukenhof garden chooses a theme for the park. In 2020 the theme of the park was “A world of colors” (A world of colors), celebrating over a million people from all countries and cultures who travel to the Keukenhof to enjoy the spectacular Dutch flowers. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the park cannot be opened.
In 2022, the flower exhibition’s theme was ‘Flower Classics’. As explains Keukenhof director Bart Siemerink: “Flowers are classic symbols used in the arts for centuries. As is apparent in several works on view at the Mauritshuis. Replicas of a number of these will be on show at Keukenhof for visitors to admire.”
In 2024, flower exhibition Keukenhof celebrated its 75th anniversary. It was a festive season, featuring an anniversary exhibition and countless other activities.
Everyone loves flowers, spring, tulips and bright fields. Flowers and colors connect people around the world in celebrations and rituals, in every culture in their own way.
The Keukenhof park invites everyone to discover the power of color in the world’s most colorful garden.
The theme of the year still appears in Flower Parade and other areas of the Keukenhof, such as the Thematic Gardens and the Oranje Nassau Pavilion, which is very close to the mosaic.
Flower Pavilions
The pavilions are greenhouses with the most beautiful tulips and different types of flowers, some of them very rare.
- Oranje Nassau Pavilion: the largest with several different flowers every week and flower arrangers provide spectacular daily flower arranging demonstrations.
- Beatrix Pavilion: orchids and anthuriums for eight weeks.
- Willem Alexander Pavilion: shows many thousands of tulips and during the last days of the season it is home to the world’s largest lily show.
- Juliana Pavilion: where the Tulpomania exhibition takes place with the tale of the tulip since the 17th century.
Inside them you’ll also find restaurants and toilets.
Windmill
This mill was built in 1892 and was originally in the town of Groningen. Only in 1957 he was relocated to the Keukenhof. And it still works! You can enter it and, from above, see part of the tulip fields that surround the park.
Inspirational Gardens
At Inspirational Gardens you can visit the themed gardens with various designs to inspire you and make a beautiful garden in your own home. In 2019, following the theme “Flower Power” of this year, its gardens are: Love & Peace Garden, Strawberry Fields Garden, Happiness Garden, Flower Power Garden, Ibiza Garden and The Green Machine Garden. What will we see in 2021?
Attractions for Children
One of the funniest places in the park is the Miffy’s House, the bunny created by the Dutchman Dick Bruna that has become a hit in the world. In the area there is a playground for children and also animals at the petting zoo.

Theme of the Flower Parade of the Bollenstreek
Living in Freedom.
The Netherlands will celebrate this exuberantly in 2025. We don’t know yet the theme for this year, but the last year was Freedom.
The Flower Parade Bollenstreek chose the theme ‘Freedom’ for the parade on April 2022. A beautiful theme to express in flowers. Experience it and come to the Bollenstreek during the construction days, culminating in the 42 kilometer journey of the moving floats from Noordwijk to Haarlem.
Freedom is a word that refers to ability to act at one’s own will. Both in how you feel, where you live, how you look, who you do business with or who you choose as an evening partner. It is an achievement that you must continuously strive for for yourself and make possible for others. It is no coincidence that the Netherlands thanked the Canadian liberators after 1945 with thousands of yellow tulips. Come and see for yourself how we will once again express the Freedom theme with millions of bulb flowers in 2025.
The Flower Parade of the Bollenstreek is the largest international Spring Festival that is celebrated by more than a million people in one week.
