Travel guide to the best Amusement and Theme Parks in Europe for families traveling with young children and more energetic teenagers
When we are planning to travel to ride a roller coaster or meet a famous character, the first place we think of is Disneyland in Orlando in the United States, but it is also possible to enjoy amusement parks in Europe.
To help convince you, we will list 6 destinations with attractions for both children and adults, with carousels, roller coasters and encounters with famous figures, such as Peppa Pig, the Little Prince, Lego figures and, of course, Mickey and the Disney princesses.
Oh! And I left for last a park in Brazil that is so cool and so important to our history, that it would be very sad if you didn’t go.
And let’s go to our list.
Best Amusement and Theme Parks in Europe
Find deals and ticket options for the best amusement parks and theme parks in Europe.
1. Peppa Pig World, England
Peppa Pig is one of the most popular cartoons among younger children and when researching what to do in London, we found Peppa Pig World, a theme park with its famous characters.
It’s quite easy to get to the park, we’ve been there twice, once by car and once by train. You can see more details in our post on How to get from London to Peppa Pig World by car or train .
Peppa Pig Park is a part of Paultons Park , which has other rides and attractions, including seasonal ones such as for Easter and Christmas.
Peppa Pig World isn’t very big, but it’s big enough for a whole day of fun. The rides are more suitable for younger children, which is the target audience for the show itself. If you have children in this age group or if you have curiosity and free time, it’s definitely worth a visit.
We wrote about our experience in our post A Fun Day at Peppa Pig World .
2. Little Prince Park (le Parc du Petit Prince), France
This next park is for those who are nostalgic and love the phrases from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic, such as the famous “You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed”.
The Little Prince theme park is located in the Alsace region of France, just 30 minutes from the city of Colmar, so it can be included in an itinerary in this wonderful region.
But despite reminding us of the book, the park’s attractions will appeal more to younger children aged 0 (yes, there are activities for babies) up to 6 or 7 years old. New rides were opened at the end of 2017, but we haven’t seen them yet.
3. Europa Park, Germany
Europa Park is one of the largest amusement parks in Europe, the largest in Germany and with attractions that please the whole family.
Divided into countries and regions, it is possible to create an itinerary for all tastes, such as a family outing, a couple’s outing or even for the most lively teenagers.
The park is located in the city of Rust in southern Germany, very close to the city of Strasbourg in France, and you can check out our visit during Halloween in the post Halloween in Germany .
4. Tivoli Gardens, Denmark
Tivoli Gardens is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, having opened in 1843. So it is a mix of attractions with rides for all ages, as well as a tourist attraction even for those who don’t like this type of place.
It is located in Copenhagen, Denmark and is very easy to get to and include in your city travel itinerary. Our partnership with GetYourGuide has a few ticket options, such as skip-the-line entry to Tivoli Gardens or unlimited access to its attractions .
We have visited twice and you can read about it in our post Tivoli Park in Copenhagen, Denmark .
5. Disneyland Paris, France
How could we not mention Disneyland in Paris, France? We’ve been there twice and plan to go a few more times, because although it’s smaller than the parks in Orlando, it’s definitely worth it.
Disneyland Paris is divided into two parks, Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios, as well as the Disney Village and the hotel area. It is very close to the city of Paris and the best way to get there is by train.
Our partnership with GetYourGuide has a few ticket options, such as 1-day tickets or multi-day tickets , be sure to check them out.
And we have already written some posts about our travels, such as :

6. LegoLAND, Germany
LegoLAND was the last theme park we visited and we really enjoyed it. It is located in a city called Günzburg, between Stuttgart and Munich, and it was easy to get there by car, but we haven’t yet researched the best way to get there by other means of transportation.
Our partnership with GetYourGuide also has an option for tickets to LegoLAND , it’s worth checking out.
We haven’t written a post about our visit yet, but we’ve already talked about how you can stay at the park’s resort, especially at the Medieval Castle-themed or in hotels near the park .
[Bonus] Parque da Mônica, São Paulo, Brazil
And let’s move on to our bonus, Parque da Mônica in São Paulo! The theme park of the gang created by Maurício de Souza is so cool, so well built, that it’s a shame they don’t give it the same importance they give to the Disney park.
The attractions are for small children, of course, but we adults who grew up reading the gang’s comics also had a lot of fun.
